Booking Through Thursday: Recent Enjoyable

What’s the most enjoyable, most fun, most just-darn-entertaining book you’ve read recently?
(Mind you, this doesn’t necessarily mean funny, since we covered that already. Just … GOOD.)

I’m right smack in the middle of a book I am loving, loving, loving! It’s The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, on audio, narrated by the author himself. And I think it just might be worthy of that Newbery Medal it won. : ) And of the Audies Award. Good heavens knows what else it was awarded. Whatever it was, it’s worthy of any of the other hullabaloo, too.

I now understand why there was a 4-hour wait in line at the American Library Association conference to meet the man and have him autograph the book. Now I get it.

In young orphan Bod, being raised in the graveyard by those who are long dead, Gaiman has created an enchanting character. And all of those dead ones–they ain’t half bad, either.

  1. I have yet to read a book from this author. Maybe I ought to change that. I am looking for another audiobook…so you are liking the narration from the author?

  2. Yes, the narration is amazing! Often when an author reads his/her own work, it's unfortunate. In Neil Gaiman's case, though, he's got the narration skill, too. Lucky guy. (Lucky readers/listeners!)
