From Booking Through Thursday, here’s the question this week:
What is the first book you remember reading? What about the first that made you really love reading?
Hmmm… part of this question is difficult, and part of it is very easy. The part about the first book is tricky, because I can’t really remember not reading. (I think I’ve blocked such a period of time–the pre-reading years–from memory!)I definitely remember reading Dr. Seuss books early on.
But the first book I remember love, love, loving is Tizz by Eliza Bialk. (Had to look up the author; all I remember is “the Tizz books”)
I recall having the chicken pox in 1st or 2nd grade (which was it?!) and being completely blissed out that I got to stay home and read all day. It was like homemade heaven. And my mom brought me the Tizz books that I was so frantic to get hold of…
These days, occasionally, life is still that good. Sometimes.
